Over Yoko / About Yoko
Yoko Heiligers (1983) illustreert boeken en maakt illustraties voor onder andere Het Parool. Ze houdt ervan om uiteenlopende onderwerpen een beeldende twist te geven. Ook bedenkt, schrijft en illustreert Yoko haar eigen prentenboeken. Als dierenvriend geeft ze dieren graag de hoofdrol in haar boeken, met humor en verwondering. Haar werk is veelvuldig vertaald en bekroond. Ze woont en werkt in Zwolle.
De techniek die ze in haar illustraties gebruikt is een combinatie van lijntekeningen en (digitale) collage waarin ze speelt met lijnen en (kleur)vlakken.
Naast haar werk als illustrator staat ze op festivals en evenementen met de tekenacts van haar collectief Buro Rococo.

Yoko Heiligers (1983) works as an illustrator for various clients such as newspapers and publishers. She likes to collaborate and enjoys to add a visual twist to various topics through her illustrations. She also comes up with and illustrates her own children’s stories and picture books. Yoko loves animals and therefore they often play an important role in her work, as well as humour and wonder. Her work has been awarded and translated internationally. She lives and works in Zwolle, the Netherlands.
The technique she uses in her illustrations is a combination of line drawings and (digital) collage, until a clear and strong image occurs.
In addition to her work as an illustrator, she performs live with the drawing-acts of her collective Buro Rococo.
